PEST is a documentary-in-progress that’s deeply personal to me. It tackles a subject many prefer to ignore—bedbug infestations. For those who can’t afford extermination, an infestation isn’t just a nuisance; it takes over their homes, their mental health, and their daily lives. Yet, these stories remain untold due to stigma and shame.
To better understand the insect, I’ve been working closely with DeVries Labs in Kentucky, and in June, PCT Magazine will feature an interview with me about the film.
This project has pushed me to grow as a filmmaker in so many ways—navigating archival media, handling sensitive subjects with care, leading larger crews, and crowdfunding. I’ve successfully raised over $4,000 to bring this film to life, and I can’t wait to share it with audiences at festivals.
